FORTHCOMING VASCULAR COURSES 2003 - 2004
Vascular
Surgical Society in partnership with the Raven Department of Education
at The Royal College of Surgeons of England
NEW
Advanced Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy - 1 December 2003
Thoracoscopic sympathectomy is an increasingly popular operation and indications
are broadening. This course combines interactive lectures and practical skills sessions to
discuss indications, use of Botox, avoidance of complications and safe performance of the
procedure. Newer techniques including treatment of facial flushing, clamping
and reversal are also covered. This course is aimed at HSTs 5-6 and
consultants.
NEW
MRCS Vascular Clinical Cases Revision Day - 12 Jan 2004 (Venue Nottingham)
Many candidates for the MRCS clinical have had little or no prior exposure to vascular
surgery. This intensive one-day course provides an opportunity to refine vascular
examination technique and practice it on a wide variety of vascular cases under simulated
examination conditions. This
course is aimed at candidates about to take the MRCS clinical exam.
NEW
Core Skills in Vascular Surgery - 9-10 February 2004
Training time in the operating theatre is increasingly scarce, making traditional "on
the job" training harder. This new cadaveric skills course is designed to cover the
basic approaches to the aorta, femoral and popliteal arteries and techniques in vascular
surgery to give trainees a head start and allow them to get maximum benefit from their
time in theatre. This course is aimed at post MRCS BSTs and HSTs 1-2.
Practical
Approaches to Aorto Iliac Reconstruction - 26-27 April 2004
An unrivalled opportunity to explore anatomical approaches to, and exposure of, the whole
of the aorta, femoral and aorto iliac vessels. The course contains a high degree of
practical work, supplemented by presentations and discussions. This course is aimed at
HSTs 4-6 and consultants.
Femoro
Distal Arterial Reconstruction - 19-20 May 2004
Highly detailed cadaveric workshops, examining the anatomical approaches to the tibial
arteries, popliteal fossa, peroneal artery and dorsalis pedis, supplemented by
demonstrations, presentations and case studies. This course is aimed at HSTs 4-6 and
consultants.
